토론토 대학교 Mathematical and Physical Sciences 계열 합격 (Fall 2025)

토론토 대학교 메인 캠퍼스에 지원하는 학생들은 보통 아래 6가지 전공 계열 중 하나를 선택해서 지원하게 됩니다. 6가지 전공 계열 중 입학 조건이 까다롭고 경쟁률이 매우 높은 Computer Science와 Rotman Commerce에 지원하는 학생들은 보험으로 다른 계열 중 하나를 선택할 수 있게 해줍니다.

저희 학생은 1지망으로 Computer Science를 선택했으나 경쟁에서 탈락했고, 2지망인 Physical & Mathematical Sciences 계열에 합격된 상황입니다. 이제 학생은 토론토 대학교에 입학해서 향후 1-2년 동안 학업을 어떻게 하느냐에 따라 Physical & Mathematical Sciences 계열에 해당하는 전공 중 하나를 선택해서 졸업까지 공부하게 됩니다.

만약 위 리스트에 원하는 전공이 없으면 어떻게 할까요? 캐나다 대학에도 전과(Internal Transfer)라는 제도가 있습니다. 토론토 대학교에 입학해서 향후 1-2년 동안 학업을 어떻게 하느냐에 따라 원하는 전공 계열로 전과하는 것도 가능합니다.

단, Computer Science와 Rotman Commerce의 경우 전과 가능성이 매우 희박하므로 전과할 생각으로 토론토 대학교에 섣불리 입학하는 것은 절대로 권장하지 않습니다. 차라리 토론토 대학교를 다니다가 다른 대학으로 편입을 노려보거나, 다른 대학에서 원하는 전공에 합격이 된 경우 그 쪽으로 진학하는 것이 낫습니다.
